Estyn
In our second session we were introduced to a man called Russell Grigg that was going to explain Estyn. Estyn inspects quality and standards in education and training in Wales. It also concentrates on two main areas. First being, looking carefully at learners and their quality of experience, second being, looking at the outcomes and grades in any constitution where learning is apparent.
He also pointed out that the Estyn provides advice to the Welsh Assembly Government in regards to quality and standards in education, and then look to promote d spread good practice.
Russell introduced the three-fold purposes which is the three main aspects and reasons for Estyn, which are; informing, promoting and accountability. This is carried out in circumstances such as when a problem occurs within the educational system. Estyn acknowledges the problem and provide various ways of how these problems can be dealt with, and then Estyn would promote positive changes in the education constitution, and then looking and the overall outcome.
Also, Estyn provides school reports, either in institutions or thematic, regardless covering the whole of Wales. The lecturer explained that there are three cogs. The biggest one being teachers, parents and governors, middle being the learners and students and the smallest being the inspectors. I found that even though the inspectors conclude results of a school or education institute, the teachers, parents or governors are the people who ultimately have the overall administrations of the school to change and make amendments to make a better learning experience.
